Upton & Hatfield Sponsors SELT’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival

Film Festival

Upton & Hatfield is a proud sponsor of The Wild & Scenic Film Festival, presented by Southeast Land Trust (SELT). For the eighth year in a row, the festival will return to The Music Hall in Portsmouth, kicking off April 20 at 7 p.m.

The film festival helps to raise awareness and funds for SELT’s land conservation efforts. SELT is a local nonprofit land trust dedicated to protecting the valuable lands in Southeastern New Hampshire for clean water, wildlife, farmlands and healthy forests. SELT aims to carry out its mission of strategic land conservation in every community.

“As a NH law firm with roots in the Granite State for over a century, Upton & Hatfield is committed to the conservation of our regional ecosystem,” said Upton & Hatfield Partner Justin Richardson. “We have helped our municipal and private clients protect many of New Hampshire's wild and scenic places over the years, and it is great to join with the Southeast Land Trust in its efforts to do the same.”

SELT’s mission is to protect and sustain the significant lands in our communities for clean water, outdoor recreation, fresh food, wildlife, and healthy forests. SELT has helped protect more than 14,000 acres of land in 52 communities in southeastern New Hampshire. The 2018 Wild & Scenic Film Festival will feature compelling short films that illustrate the importance of the human-nature connection and the stories that ensue when humanity and nature intersect. All of the proceeds from this event go toward aiding SELT in their efforts to conserve the most treasured land of our region.

In its long history, Upton & Hatfield has championed many high profile environmental protection and conservation efforts. Its advocacy for clients in the Courts resulted in the protection of the Franconia Notch Parkway, the protection of City of Nashua’s water supply, and the conservation of Lubberland Creek salt marsh. Outside the court room, the firm has helped protect thousands of acres of conservation lands in partnership with municipalities, land owners and conservation groups like SELT.

“Our sponsorship of The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is just another way of demonstrating our devotion to the environment,” Richardson said.

Join SELT, Upton & Hatfield, and other outdoor enthusiasts on Friday, April 20 at The Music Hall for an evening of inspirational cinematography that celebrates humanity’s role in nature. Purchase your tickets today!
